Legal Disclaimer
Cyber Law Institute publishes general information about digital consumer rights. Please read this disclaimer before relying on anything on this site.
Not legal advice
The articles, guides, and resources on this site are for general information only. They are not legal advice and are not a substitute for advice from a lawyer who knows the facts of your situation.
No attorney-client relationship
Cyber Law Institute is a publication, not a law firm. Reading this site, signing up for our newsletter, sending us a tip, or emailing us does not create an attorney-client relationship. Our articles are not reviewed by attorneys unless a named reviewer is shown on the article.
Laws vary and change
Consumer protection, privacy, and fraud rules differ from state to state and change over time. An article reflects the law and official guidance as of its published or updated date. Some legal rights come with deadlines, so if your situation may involve one, consider getting advice from a lawyer licensed in your state.
Official sources come first
We summarize and link to laws, regulations, agency guidance, court records, and settlement documents. If our summary differs from the official source, the official source controls. Always check deadlines and requirements with the agency, court, or company involved.
Cases and settlements
When we report on a lawsuit, the claims are allegations unless a court has decided them. We do not run settlements or process claims. For eligibility, claim forms, and payments, use the official settlement website named in court documents.
No affiliation
Cyber Law Institute is not affiliated with any government agency, court, credit bureau, bank, platform, or company we write about, unless we say so in a specific article. Naming an organization is not an endorsement.
Not financial or tax advice
Information about credit, payments, and accounts is general information, not financial or tax advice.
